FARE TRANSPARENCY REPORT · REVIEWED 2026-07-31

Published fares first.
Estimates clearly labeled.

STT GO automatically prices routes that appear in the configured St. Thomas tariff table. For a GPS pickup or an unlisted pairing, the platform prepares a planning estimate for a licensed driver or dispatcher to verify. Custom estimates never go directly to payment.

Exact published match

Airport, Charlotte Amalie, and configured point-to-point routes show their table value automatically, including the lower per-person group fare when applicable.

02

GPS area analysis

The phone’s coordinates are compared with mapped tariff anchors using Haversine distance. The closest area guides the planning estimate; it is not treated as a legal tariff boundary.

03

Human verification

A custom total is prefilled in the approval desk. Only a licensed driver or dispatcher can confirm it, and the rider reviews that confirmed total before Stripe checkout.

MODEL VALIDATION

The old fallback was improved.

The previous rule used 55% of the cheaper airport/town anchor sum. Testing it against 21 known direct routes showed a consistent upward bias. Segment-specific calibration improved the known-route error:

Rider segmentOld MAENew MAENew average bias
1 rider$3.62$3.14+$0.19
2+ riders · per person$2.52$2.10−$0.29
MAE is mean absolute error on the configured point-to-point examples. This is a small, geographically clustered sample and does not make the model an official tariff.
DISTANCE CONTEXT

Distance helps identify the right area.

Straight-line miles are used to find the nearest mapped tariff anchor—not to operate a taximeter. Actual road travel is longer on St. Thomas.

What is verified—and what still needs a primary document.

Cross-check completed: representative airport, town, and direct-route values were compared with current 2026 public fare guides. The Mahogany Run server-side value was corrected to match the current table used by the rider calculator.

Certification gap: the current Virgin Islands Taxicab Commission tariff card was not available as a machine-readable public document during this review. The posted lawful tariff and Commission guidance control if any source differs.
